UL and C-UL Hazardous Areas Certification for North America

NUCO Controls is a certified manufacturer of industrial control panels for use in hazardous locations. Often referred to as “explosion proof panels”, our UL and C-UL certified controls solutions are engineered to perform reliably in the most critical industrial applications.

NUCO’s superior control panel solutions are engineered to reliably operate in hazardous environments that require close proximity to highly flammable and/or explosive materials. These can include any location where explosion or fire hazards exist due to the presence of flammable gasses, flammable or combustible liquid-produced vapors, combustible dusts, and ignitable fibers or flyings.

NUCO Controls is certified for both control panels and assemblies used in hazardous locations and areas related to hazardous locations, NNNY(7) and NRBX(7), respectively.  NUCO is certified for these types of control panels for both the United States and Canada.

NUCO’s UL certifications allow the following markings:

NNNY(7)

  • CLASS 1, DIV 1, GROUPS A, B, C and D
  • CLASS 1, DIV 2, GROUPS A, B, C, and D

NRBX(7)

  • CLASS 1, GROUPS A, B, C and D
  • CLASS II, GROUPS E, F, and G
  • CLASS III

UL certification signifies that the control panel manufacturer has met all the applicable requirements of UL and that their panels are subject to inspection by UL field representatives. Each control panel has a documentation package assuring the UL standards requirements have been met prior to placing the appropriate UL markings on the control panel.

Our customers benefit from superior products by requiring industrial control equipment certification. Market acceptance increases by providing your control solutions with UL certification. Choosing a UL certified manufacturer differentiates your product and strengthens your brand image in the competitive marketplace, both domestic and internationally.

UL 508A is the UL standard for construction of industrial control panels (ICP).  It is the standard of safety for Industrial Control Equipment, consisting of more than 30 different product categories and 100 different devices. It guides the selection of components, wiring methods and calculation of short circuit ratings.

A UL label signifies that the control panel manufacturer has met the requirements of UL 508A and that their panels are subject to inspection by UL field representatives. The UL Listing Mark may be applied to a broad range of designs ranging from panels custom built for a specific application to standardized designs. Each control panel has a documentation package assuring the UL 508A Standards requirements have been met prior to placing the UL label on the control panel.
